TOOLIN’ AROUND IN THE EAST BAY

Trying out another type of road trip near home today. T rents a BMW R1200RT touring motorcycle from Riders Share . What a beautiful day to enjoy the scenic country roads of the East Bay!

We meet friends in Orinda, who planned the day’s ride. Thanks John! We ride The Three Bears (Bear Creek Road) loop and enjoy views of rolling hills, rustic barns and peacefully grazing horses.

A fed rider, is a happy rider and touring works up a hearty appetite. We make a pit stop at Kinders’ Deli in Walnut Creek to feed the bellies. Their lip smackin’ bbq sauce smothered on deli sandwiches makes you begging for more!

For the afternoon, we continue our adventures to the Kirker to Marsh Creek loop. This scenic ride brings us from the foothills of Clayton to the highlands of the Livermore Valley. On a lonely section of the road the road turns from 2 lanes to 1 lane with narrow wooden bridge crossings. Steady riding there!

Sadly, all good things must end for the day… The terminus of our ride is the historic Sunol Train Depot. All is quiet, but if you listen closely enough, you might hear the faint distant sounds of a train’s toot.

At the depot, a water fountain is repurposed into a beautiful succulent garden – so water efficient and good for the planet!
